How to Give

DIGITAL, MOBILE, AND ONLINE

We are excited to announce that we have launched an new mobile-friendly, digital giving option to our church. You have probably noticed by now the small icon located at the bottom left of your screen. By clicking or tapping this icon, it will open up what is called a "giving flow". It is simple, clean, easy, safe, and secure way of giving digitally to our church.

It works on the website, it will work on your phone and anywhere you are.  With many people not having cash or cheques, we want to make sure you have to opportunity to give, even if you are not here for a Sunday service.  We know many people travel, work shift work, or are home sick with the kids so we want to make sure that you have the opportunity to give too.

Currently online, you can only give with your credit card. However, if you have a "Visa enabled" or "MasterCard enabled" debit card, we can accept funds directly form your bank account.

You can also set up recurring giving: weekly or monthly etc. You also have the option to create your own account to see your giving and to update your payment methods or address. Again, your information is private and confidential. It is secure. Just as our offering envelopes are private and confidential, our digital giving amounts and users are only seen by the financial team and not the staff or pastors. As we shared earlier, your generosity is toward God and you are giving to Him an amount that the Holy Spirit has settled in your heart to give.

ON SUNDAY

An offering plate is passed around each Sunday. There are envelopes available to place cheques or cash into. By putting your name and address on the envelope, you will be able to receive a tax receipt, usually issued at the end of January each year.

On the Envelope, you can designate your gift to our General Fund, Missions Fund, or the "Other" category toward a special project.

Why Do We Give?

We give our Time, Talent, and Treasure. Not to the pastor, not to the church, but to God. We do this because He first loved us and He was the first to give. He gave us life. He gave us Himself, and He gave us New Life. He gave everything for us.

God does not need your money, but money is the key to understanding where we stand with God. Jesus gave everything for the sake of salvation. And He asks us to follow Him.

In the Old Testament

A tithe was brought to the temple. It was ten percent of whatever the harvest was. This was the minimum requirement for giving.

Malachi 3:10 says, "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it."

Tithing was an act of faith in God to believe He would provide a great harvest. If you continue reading, God said he would protect the crops and the world would see the blessing on God's people.

We don't give to get, rather we give as a sign of Faith in God. We give because we rely on God as he is our provider for all things seen and unseen.

In the New Testament

Paul gives instructions for giving and generosity.

2 Corinthians 9:6-15 says, "Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9 As it is written: 'They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.'

10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

12 This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. 13 Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. 14 And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. 15 Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!"

While tithing is not mentioned as a requirement, if you have given your life to Jesus and committed to follow Him, we follow His example and we give generously. God is not asking you to sell everything and live on the streets. God is also not asking you to keep everything to yourself.

Paul is saying, start with the ten percent, start with something and trust God will take care of the rest. As you see God meet your needs, allow the Holy Spirit to prompt you to give when you see a need and watch God bless your giving.

When we give generously, We live in the expectancy that God will do something incredible and lives will be changed.

Each year at our annual business meeting, usually held in March or April, we put forward our annual budget to the membership of the church for their approval. God uses your generosity to pay our expenses as an organization.

Our church is a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency and we are able to give a charitable tax receipt to most gifts. This status adds a level of security and assurance that our finances are being taken care of in a responsible manner.

We also report to our District and National office each year who hold us accountable in many areas of our church life and ministry, finances included.

We have an excellent leadership team and financial team who serve our church faithfully by managing our finances in a God-honouring way.

If you have any questions or would like more information, please feel free to contact our church office at anytime and we will respond in an appropriate and timely manner.
