Alpha for Couples ONLINE

What is Alpha?

Normally the following would describe Alpha, but with Covid-19; Things have changed. For now, Alpha is being offered online only.

We believe that everyone should have the chance to explore faith, ask questions, and share their point of view.

Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha is run all around the globe, and everyone’s welcome. It runs in cafés, churches, universities, homes—you name it. No two Alphas look the same, but generally they have three key things in common: food (normally), a talk and good conversation.

If at any point you decide Alpha isn't for you, that's not a problem. There's no pressure, no follow up and no charge.

Who is Alpha For?

Alpha is for everyone. Especially anyone who is not a follower of Jesus, or doesn't know what they believe, and who wants to explore the Christian faith in a friendly, honest, and informal environment.

People attend from all backgrounds, religions, and viewpoints. Participants come to investigate questions about the existence of God, the purpose of life, the afterlife, the claims of Jesus. Some people want to get beyond religion and find a relationship with God that really changes a life. Others come for the close, long-lasting friendships that are built during the Alpha course. Many guests have never been to church, others may have attended church occasionally but feel they have never really understood the basics of the Christian faith or simply aren't able to articulate why they believe what they believe.

What is Discussed?

Over the weeks of Alpha, participants explore the following talks:

Who is Jesus?

Why did Jesus die?

How can we have faith?

Why and how do I pray?

Why and how should I read the Bible?

How does God guide us?

Who is the Holy Spirit? What does he do?

Why and how should I tell others?

What about the church?

Alpha Retreat

What does it look like?

Food

Whether it’s a group of friends gathered around a kitchen table, or a quick catch-up over coffee, food has a way of bringing people together. It’s no different at Alpha. All sessions start with food, because it’s a great way to connect, relax and build friendships.

Talk

The talks are designed to engage and inspire conversation. Each talk is around thirty minutes long and given as a live talk or played as a video. They explore the big issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity, addressing questions from Who is Jesus? and How can we have faith? to Why and how do I pray? and How does God guide us?

Discussion

One of the most important parts of any Alpha: the chance to share thoughts and ideas on the topic, and discuss in a small group. There’s no obligation to say anything and there’s nothing you can’t say (seriously). It’s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment.
